The Candlemaker Meets protea


Like so many people, our friend Loralee took one look at the protea bottles and couldn’t wait to put them to beautiful use. Her thing: Candlemaking. Here’s how she does it.

(And to answer your first question, No, she didn’t drink all that wine!)

The process begins with cutting. Loralee said it’s simple, but then again, she has a wet saw with a fine diamond saw blade. After cutting, she does a multistep polishing process to make the edges nice and smooth.

Next, the wicks are put in place.

Finally, the freshly made candles rest, allowing the wax to set firmly.
